We are proud to announce that Yuva Association has received the “Impact Award” at the Nets4Dem Democratic Innovation Awards for the Izmir Climate Citizens’ Assembly project.
Representing Yuva Association at the ceremony, Yuva Association Board Chair Erdem VARDAR emphasized the importance of meaningful public participation and local collaboration in strengthening democratic and inclusive climate governance in Türkiye.
The jury recognised the Izmir Climate Citizens’ Assembly as Türkiye’s first climate assembly and praised the project for its careful implementation of a highly demanding participatory methodology. The collaboration established with the municipality and the active involvement of local stakeholders were also highlighted among the project’s strongest aspects.
The Nets4Dem Democratic Innovation Awards celebrate projects that demonstrate how cooperation between civil society organisations, local governments, researchers, and communities can create meaningful democratic transformation.
