As YUVA, we are implementing a pilot project on water retention measures in the olive groves of Ayvalık as part of the Solutions to Drought Program.

Water retention measures are practices designed to retain rainwater as close as possible to where it falls, slow surface runoff, reduce erosion, and promote water infiltration into the soil.

Through these measures, we aim to preserve soil moisture for longer periods, help natural vegetation remain green for longer, and make olive groves more resilient to drought, fire risk, and the effects of climate change.

Follow us to see the next steps in this journey in Ayvalık and learn more about water retention measures.
