From 15-16 May 2024, the partners of the Erasmus+ project SMALEI – Sustainability Matrix for Adult Learning and Training Institutions – met at TKNIKA’s headquarters in San Sebastian for the third Partners Meeting. TKNIKA, which stands for Basque Center for Applied Research in Vocational Education and Training, is focused on bio-sustainable processes.
The meeting started with a sensory experience prepared by students at TKNIKA in the field of sustainability, with a 360-degree immersion to awaken the senses and evoke a personal response to climate change. The partners then visited the center to learn about its experimental and innovative practices, including applied aquaponics and circular food economy research.
During the two days, the partners discussed finalizing the online self-assessment tool, handbook, and guidebook to accompany the digital matrix. It is hoped that this tool will serve as a roadmap for adult education institutions to assess and improve their sustainability. Furthermore, the launch of the SMALEI Academy in November 2024 and the ongoing implementation pilots of the partners were also raised and discussed by the partners.
You can visit the SMALEI website to learn more and join the LinkedIn group for easier access to Adult Education educators and stakeholders interested in greening their practice.
