The Environmental and Ocean Literacy Project carried out in the Black Sea Basin was met with great interest in Thrace. A total of 51 participants from various institutions and groups took part in three separate training sessions held in Edirne and Kırklareli last week.

The training sessions, attended by Edirne Municipality employees, students from the Landscape Architecture Department of Kırklareli University, members of EDOSK and TRAKDOSK, and students from Trakya University, addressed connections with the sea, environmental issues, and solutions. The program, consisting of four sessions, was conducted using interactive methods. Participants discovered the rich biodiversity of the Black Sea and were introduced to new concepts related to environmental and marine literacy.

The training sessions were conducted under the leadership of the Yuva Association team. Edirne Municipality employees and EDOSK representatives who had previously participated in trainer training also contributed to the process as trainers.

The project aims to increase environmental awareness in different institutions and organizations in the region and to encourage young people and local actors to take a more active role in environmental protection processes. Environmental and marine literacy training will continue in different cities in the coming months.
