In 2020, as YUVA, we started the Environmental Literacy Networking Project in partnership with the Kyoto Club (Italy). Within the scope of the project financed by the European Union, we established the Environmental Literacy Network (ELN) with the participation of civil society organizations and local governments from Turkey (Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Balikesir, Çanakkale, Hatay, Gaziantep and Mersin) and the EU. As of now, ELN has 55 members and it still continues to add new members to its network.
The main aim of ELN is to strengthen the cooperation of non-governmental organizations and local municipalities from Turkey and the European Union in the field of environmental education, so that they can look critically at nature and human relations, develop ideas for the solution of these problems and increase the number of environmentally literate individuals who display responsible behavior and understanding within this framework.

What Are We Doing At ELN?
As ELN, we provide Climate Literacy and Sustainability and Ecological Literacy trainings for children and adults. We have formed a team of trainers to carry out these trainings, and our team is growing with the trainings of trainers which we organize occasionally.
We organize capacity building workshops for our member organizations. So far, we have held workshops on Financial Sustainability and Fundraising, Monitoring and Evaluation, Campaigning and Communication. In 2022, we will have a workshop on advocacy in the field of environmental education.
In addition to these, we come together to talk about both civil society and the ecology, climate and sustainability agenda, share experiences and generate ideas through networking meetings.
Who can attend ELN?
ELN is open to all associations, foundations, non-governmental networks and platforms, professional organizations, city councils and municipalities, which organize training and awareness raising activities in the field of environment and climate change or work in such areas that can contribute to these training contents, support the establishment of ELN and operates primarily in Ankara, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Gaziantep, Hatay, Istanbul, İzmir and Mersin.
In addition, non-governmental organizations and municipalities operating in similar fields from EU member states can join our network.
